Dartmoor Exchange updade 12/10/03

From: catbead1 (libby@twcny.rr.com) | Date: 2003-12-10 09:52:56 UTC
This is just a quick update to let everyone know that the Dartmoor
Exchange is full and now closed.

The timetable has been moved foreward and the boxes will be planted on
the moor this Jan., which means I'll need to ship the stamps to Graham
in a few weeks.

At last, the Dartmoor Exchange page is up and running on my website at:
http://www.catbeadmischief.com/dartmoorexchange.html
if for some reason the link doesn't work you can also get at it thru
my "Boxes Placed" link at http://www.catbeadmischief.com/

Cheers,
catbead 1

What are the suggestions for placing the boxes here?

Do you mean for choice of subject or how we place the box and write
the clues?

Sorry, to clarify, how are we going to place boxes and write clues?

This is something we need to discuss. I'm hoping to/working on
getting a special forum area just for this and the other Dartmoor
stuff we need to figure out. :-)

I can't believe I did this, but I actually carved my first ever stamp
for this. It's not perfect, considering that I am legally blind.
But I took some good advice from Catbead and I am proud of my work.

Catbead, I sent you a jpg of me, a jpg of my signature stamp, a jpg
of the Dartmoor exchange image stamp, the writeup for the stamp, and
I mailed the stamp to you today, December 11, 2003. Remind Graham
that he'll need to include two marker pens with the stamp - one black
and one red.

Phew!

Nice job! It looks like the symbol for the United Methodist church. Is it?

YES! My Dartmoor exchange stamp theme is Britain in America - John
Wesley. He founded the Methodist Church in England, and thanks to
his itinerate ministry, brought it over to America. Most every
Methodist Church in America is named by a location or person in
England!

Isn't that the coolest thing!

Our Methodist Church is named the Smithtown United Methodist church. Our
town is Smithtown which is named after its founder Smith. So are we odd or what?

*Most* of the Methodist Churches in America are named after Methodist
origins.

There are, however, numerous exceptions.

I was baptized and confirmed in the Epworth Methodist Church.

I was married in the Wesley Methodist Church.

Now I attend the First United Methodist Church here in MA, and the
North Kingstown Methodist Church when I live in RI in the summer.
